The Towns of Amityville, Copiague, and Lindenhurst date back to
the late 1600’s when early settlers came to the South Shore
of Long Island. By the 1800’s, each of the towns was established.
Some interesting and informative facts about the areas we service:
AMITYVILLE:
In 1846 the Town of Amityville was founded. In March 1894, the Incorporated
Village of Amityville was established.
Active Community Organizations include: Amityville Chamber of Commerce,
Amityville Kiwanis Club, Amityville Jr. League, Rotary Club, Women’s
Club, and Historical Society.
Fundraisers and Community Activities include: The Rotary Apple Fest,
Holiday Food Baskets, and Holiday Adopt a Family, The Annual Chinese
Auction, The Annual Gift of Life Gala, Historical Society Fair, Community
Health Fair, Holiday Tree Lighting and House Decorating Contest,
July 3rd. Family Day Celebration, July 4th. Parade, Career Mentoring
Day.
Amityville Village Beach combines ball parks, playgrounds, swimming
and sailing lessons. In addition, the Village boasts a large, active
Boating and Waterfront Community.
COPIAGUE:
Copiague is a Hamlet in the Town of Babylon, on Long Island’s
South Shore.
In the 1800’s this Hamlet finally settled with the name “Copiague”,
an Indian name, meaning “Place of Shelter”. In 1912,
Guglielmo Marconi, inventor of the wireless telegraph, began his
many summer vists to Copiague.
In the 1920's, an area south of Montauk Highway, which was named
the American Venice was constructed in Copiague. It was designed
to resemble Venice, Italy with canals and arched bridges. Local residents
could be seen riding gondolas in the canals.
Active Community Organizations include: 911 Hometown Memorial Foundation,
Town of Babylon Industrial Development Agency, Copiague Youth Council,
Copiague Chamber of Commerce, and Copiague Kiwanis Club, Amity Harbor
Civic Association, and the Great South Bay Estates Homeowners Association.
Fundraisers and Community Activities include: Networking Functions,
Annual Business Expo, “A Mother’s Kiss” for Childhood
cancer patients, Copiague Key Club, Award winning H.S. Band Competitions,
Sponsors for Childrens Breakfast Programs, Holiday Lights.
Copiague’s Tanner Park is the main point of interest in this
Hamlet. It includes a beach, cultural and Senior Citizen Center,
Boat marina, and Baseball and Soccer fields.
In addition, there is a new Bandshell for summer concerts under the
stars.
LINDENHURST:
Lindenhurst began as the “City of Breslau”, and in 1891,
became known as Lindenhurst. In 1923, it became an Incorporated Village.
Today, Lindenhurst is the largest Incorporated Village in Suffolk
County, and the 4th. largest in New York State. Venetian Shores Town
of Babylon Beach has a children’s water park and beach restaurant
with summer entertainment.
Active Community Organizations include: Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce,
Annual Business Expo, Toys for Hope, Lindenhurst Kiwanis Club.
Fundraisers and Community Activities include: Annual Holiday Installation
and Dinner, Oktoberfest, Annual Spring Fest, Annual Business Expo,
Tree Lighting, Toys for Hope, Networking Night on the Beach, Breast
Cancer Walk, Mental Health Association Annual Drive, Blood Drive.
